Question 1

What are common signs of transmission trouble?

Accepted Answer

Common signs include slipping or delayed shifting, hard or rough gear changes, fluid leaks, a burning smell, a warning light or transmission message on your dashboard, unusual whining or grinding sounds, and the vehicle not moving in drive or reverse. If any of this sounds familiar, call our Cleburne shop to describe what you're noticing.

Question 2

Why is my vehicle slipping or shifting hard?

Accepted Answer

Slipping and hard shifting can come from several different causes, including low or degraded transmission fluid, a failing internal component, or an electronic/sensor issue. The only way to know for sure is a diagnostic evaluation — call us and describe what your vehicle is doing so we can talk through next steps.

Question 3

Should I keep driving if my transmission is slipping?

Accepted Answer

Continuing to drive with a slipping transmission can allow the underlying problem to get worse and may leave you stranded. If your vehicle is slipping, it's best to call us and describe what's happening before you drive it any further.

Question 4

Should I drive with a transmission fluid leak?

Accepted Answer

A transmission needs the correct fluid level to shift properly and stay cool, so driving on a leak risks further damage the longer it goes unaddressed. If you're seeing red or brown fluid spots under your vehicle, call us to describe the leak before you put more miles on it.

Question 5

Do I need a diagnostic before repair work?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A diagnostic evaluation helps identify the actual cause of the problem so any recommended repair is based on what your vehicle actually needs, not guesswork.

Question 6

What is the difference between transmission repair, rebuild, and replacement?

Accepted Answer

Repair addresses a specific issue, such as a leak or a faulty component. Replacement means installing a different transmission in the vehicle. A rebuild involves disassembling and reconditioning the existing unit. Which path makes sense for your vehicle depends on what a diagnostic finds — call us to discuss your options.

Question 7

How long can transmission repairs take?

Accepted Answer

Repair time varies depending on the issue, parts availability, and the extent of the work needed. We can give you a better estimate once we've evaluated your vehicle.

Question 8

What affects the cost of transmission repair?

Accepted Answer

Cost depends on what the diagnostic finds — whether the fix is a seal, sensor, or fluid-related issue versus more extensive internal work, plus the parts your specific vehicle needs. We walk through the findings and the options with you before any repair begins so there are no surprises.

Question 9

Do you offer warranty coverage?

Accepted Answer

Warranty availability can depend on the specific repair or replacement performed. Ask us about warranty options when we review your vehicle and repair plan.
